    Ben Mills Google Ranking

I’m proud to say that today, thanks largely to recently being a guest on Stop Podcasting Yourself, that on a Google Search of “Ben Mills” both this website and the website where you can download my comedy album rank higher then the website belonging to former X-factor contestant British musician Ben Mills.

So You Think You Can Think? – a history in photos

So You Think You Can Think? Sunday Night Pub Quiz at the Loose Cannon (Halifax) This was the name of the pub trivia night that Dylan Rhymer and myself started in Halifax in January 2009.  It still runs today at the only venue it’s ever known: the Loose Cannon at 1566 Argyle Street.  Dylan had [...]

My Reaction to Certain People’s Reaction to the 2011 Vancouver Riot

So many people in Vancouver are acting like they invented the sports riot just because it’s happened there twice in fifteen years. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as this is the same city that took credit for the inventing the attractive female buttocks when Lulu Lemon opened shop. If Vancouver is only rioting about hockey every decade and a half then it’s doing better then a lot of other places on the globe.

I’m pretty sure a cop tried to buy weed off me via e-mail

On April 27, 2011 I received an ambiguous e-mail from somebody by the name of VAN SKYPE.  (There was no other information included with their g-mail account, but I’m pretty sure VAN SKYPE looks something like this) April 27, 2011 12:23 AM VAN SKYPE: hi ben,  just saw this 420 fund raising event, found your [...]

    Late Winter Plows

In Halifax, as soon as a snowfall starts to stick to the ground the citizens fill the sidewalks with their various clearing machines in tow. The odd purist or poverty stricken person shovel away to the brink of cardiac arrest, but the task is largely automated these days. There is buzz on the side streets as people fulfill their civic duty. But nothing compares to the deployment of snow plows through the neighbourhoods. Like the people, the plows come in various sizes and from different economic backgrounds.

    The Night Bus

You remain terrestrially bound taking aim down some indistinguishable unfurl of Canadian Highway. The journey will bounce loose long forgotten injuries into your muscle memory. There is very little cultural experience opportunity traveling long distances on the bus except for learning the colours of regional gas stations.

    Facebook Isn’t Stalking

I keep hearing the word “stalk” used incorrectly in reference to social networking sites. ie “I totally caught Mary stalking Larry on Facebook.” To use stalk like this is backwards. To stalk is to a go out of your way to find private information about another person, whereas in this scenario…

    Kensington Market

It in the latter half of the Prairies I read some entertainment listings that informed me Toots and the Maytals would be playing in Toronto’s Phoenix roughly around the time that I’d be there. It was somewhere on the way back up across the border from New York, maybe Niagara Falls, when I realized that [...]

When I called the Fredericton hostel to make a reservation for a room a surly man on the other end of the line simply asked my name, snorted “Yeah, okay” and hung up. This was the least amount of information I’d ever had to give to secure accommodations and it made me a uneasy. I [...]
